Whirlpool Duet - LEMON!
I just joined this group because I bought a whirlpool Duet washer (Model#GHW9400PL) in 11/04 and have recently had major problems.
F-11, F-dl, Leaks, moldy smell, etc. It is now inoperable. I researched many different websites and realized hundreds (if not thousands) of people are having the same problems with this washer.
I wrote Whirlpool a scathing letter regarding the 'reliability' of this washer, the original cost and the other people who have tried to have it repaired only to incurr additional costs with no satisfaction that it will work again.
All this in consideration, my husband and I may decide to cut our losses without spending more $$$ for repairs that may or may not work, and purchase another washer.
But at this point I don't know what to do. I am afraid to buy ANY washer as now I have no idea what brand or model is reliable, or maybe our Duet will benefit from a simple repair. We just don't know.
Any recommendations? I am totally frustrated and I'm tired of taking my laundry to my MIL's house.
Thank you.

Call Sears and ask for the smart aggrement... repaired up to 500.00 the 1st trip and a repair warranty for a year... if goes over 500.00 you pay the difference or take the 500 credit toward a new washer... That average repair for your problem where i am is about 350.00.. Just remember the up to 500 is on the 1st initial trip only and other repars need later in he future ar totally payed...

Thanks for the info Bambiblaster. I'll talk to my husband about it and we'll figure out what to do. I think he probably wants to cut our losses and get a new one.
But we gotta do something soon!! My housekeeper who helps me with my family (I have 2 little ones) and cleans my MIL's house, just told me that my MIL rummages through our family's clothes when we take them over there! AUGH!!!! She's always been a nosey old broad but THIS is rediculous!!!
