Default Whirlpool model # ET8CHMXKT03 condenser fan

Hi – help please – I’m getting too many different answers to the same question and it's confusing me.

My 2003 Whirlpool fridge model # ET8CHMXKT03 condenser fan isn’t working at all. The condenser fan model # is Panasonic UDQR003W7 (115V-78mA) with a place to plug in a 4-pin connector to the fan motor.

But - when I try too look up the replacement part, the new motor is totally different and has wires coming from it (mine has no wires)

I’ve contacted several different parts suppliers and each one says something different with a range of prices for a replacement fan motor running from $22 - $90 so I don’t know what to believe.

Could someone please help and tell me once and for all the correct part number and (if possible) a link to buy the motor or motor kit? I would like to get an exact replacement and not to have cut and splice wires if possible, but I’ll be happy with buying the correct model that will fit my fridge.

I’m on the verge of calling in the big guns (the professional repair tech) but I’m pretty handy and this looks like something that’s fairly easy to replace since I have the motor already out. Currently I have a portable fan blowing air on the compressor to keep it cool, but I know that’s only a temporary fix.

    Thanks!!!

Ok, I see why your confused, this confused me as well when I ran into this issue a few years ago.

The original condenser motor on your model was a redesign from the old style ones from 20 years of using the old style ones that proved to be extremely reliable. They changed to this new style one like is on your model now, we have been having issues with the new style ones burning out very quick, within 1-3 years of operation, like yours has, so now they want to go back to the old reliable ones again.

So its your choice what you what to order, your original one which may or may not go bad again and costs about $80 or go back to the old reliable ones which are about $32 and is a kit that comes with instructions of how to retro-fit back to the old style model. I have replaced a few of them with the retro-fit kit and work great, just follow the instructions, yes you will need to splice the wires but its fairly easy to do if your good with tools.

So I will list both for you, if you get the original one, its an exact match with no wire splicing required.

Here's the original one for your model:
    Manufacturer part#W10124096 is RepairClinic item#1378525

    Here's the retro-fit kit one:
    Manufacturer's Number: 833697BLADE

    Fantastic! Thanks for your answer!!

It makes a bunch a sense to me and no wonder the different parts stores were confused! Sometimes the latest and greatest model isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

I just ordered the kit for $32 and will pocket the difference of the OEM part.

    Thanks again!

    Cool

The Good news: I got the fan kit in the mail today and put it in with no problems! I cut and spliced a few wires and presto! Its working perfect! I never realized how much airflow that it gives off!

The Bad news: I ordered the fan kit from appliancepartspros.com (Jake, I hope you don't work with them directly because what I say next isn't too nice) - and it looked like they just threw a spare motor and fan in a box they had laying around their shop. I hope the motor is new, because I can't tell if it has been used or not.

They didn't include any kind of packing list inside or on the box to tell me what should have been shipped (I had to print out a picture from their website to see all the parts) - no instructions - and no ground wire (although it turned out I didn't need the ground wire). I called them for the missing instructions and wire and was given some major attitude by customer service rep. The instructions were emailed to me and the ground wire will be shipped soon – but the customer service rep couldn’t tell me when.

I'm glad that I got the part so fast and that it works great, but not so happy with their customer service.

Jake, on a personal note – thank you very much for your knowledge because without your help I would have never had been able to get an answer for my question….thank you again!!

Glad its working good for you.

Sorry to hear about the customer service part, I haven't had any complaints about customer service from them, we just refer people to them to get parts, I don't work for them. But if I find I'm getting more complaints from members here about there customer service, I may have to quit referring people to them till they fix there customer service issues.

    Update:
I contacted appliancepartspros.com this morning about the issues and they responded within a couple of hours and were very apologetic. The problems I had might have been a fluke or something.

I didn’t really need a response from them I just wanted them to know of the problem as a FYI, but it was nice of them to write me back so quickly and much appreciated. I’m pretty happy with their response. Thanks again!

    Default 833697blade

I ordered this cheaper fan replacement because this is the second time the new one has gone out and caused a relay to burn out. However, It didn't come with wiring instructions. Since it only had two wires I assumed I could just connect it to the two wire feeds to the original fan. However, the compressor would not come on when I did this (I turned the fridge down and when I disconnected the fan, the compressor came right on). So, I was hoping someone could give me wiring instructions for the older style fan.
