    Default Whirlpool Gold No Water

    Model Number: GD25DQXFW01
    Brand: Whirlpool

No water from the dispenser and not filling the ice. Has been dripping a few drops of water during the day from the dispenser. Thought it was a water flow problem. Changed the original tap saddle valve with a proper drill saddle valve. Defrosted for 24 hours. Still no water. Really can't hear a hum when engaging the lever. Can hear the manual click on the switch but still no water. Just need some feedback before I purchase the water inlet valve.

    Thanks,
    Buck

    Ok Buck,

What I do is pull the refrigerator out from the wall, then turn off the supply, then disconnect the water supply line that connects to your water inlet valve, then get a bucket or container and put the water supply line in that, then turn the water on, it should come out full force.

    Do that and report back.

    Hi Jake,
Checked the water supply. It's coming out in a hard flow. Also, just noticed that the ice maker is working. Bin is only half full after 72 hours though. However, it's working. What's next?

    Thanks,
    Buck

Ok still no water to the water dispenser?

There should be a connection under your freezer door, likely behind the front bottom kickplate grille, undo that connection and see if water flows out from there first before going up into the freezer door.

I checked the water flow at the coupling behind the kick plate. No water coming out. I even pushed the water dispenser and nothing.

    Have someone help you:

Remove the rear panel from the unit and you'll need to check the WATER valve for 120v while the paddle is being pushed in by your spouse or a friend...

Also, if there is a filter, has it been changed recently?

If you have 120v at the water valve, you can unhook the water line from the valve, the plastic 5/16" line and then see if water comes out from the bottom of the valve, if not, your valve is bad.

    For the icemaker:

Empty your bin into some container and place it in your freezer for storage. Allow the bin to fill for 24 hours and do not use any ice from the bin. After 24 hours, remove the bin and individually count the cubes. You should have between 90 and 130 cubes normally.

Thanks and I'll check it out today. The ice count seems to be right. The first day after defrosting, it looked to be about 100 cubes. I'm intrigued that the inlet valve could be bad when it's still making ice. Also, the dispenser is still dripping but not working. I'll report back later today.

the inlet valve is a dual solenoid. The water and ice are two separate valves with one common inlet. One has nothing to do with the other.

Thanks. The inlet valve has 122 volts when the paddle is pushed in. No water coming out of the bottom right line. So, just ordered a new inlet valve from repairclinic.com I'm hoping the dripping stops with the new valve. Wish me luck.

    Thanks again,
    Buck

    Buck,

It most likely will take care of it. Dripping water at the reservoir is one key sign of a valve issue. I'm glad to help. Let us know how you did
