Whirlpool Gold GS6NBEXRL00 Ice Maker not making ice
Brand:
Whirlpool
Age:
1-5 years
I have a Whirlpool Gold GS6NBEXRL00 Refridgerator that is not making ice. In previous posts I have learned that the following information might be needed to diagnose my problem: no ice in the icemaker and the ejector blades are pointing out toward me and the led lights are flashing twice then a one second delay.
Would appreciate any infomation as to the problem and solution.

OK. When we open freezer the led's are doing the two blink, one delay thing. Closing that little door on the left causes the led to stay on. That little door is loose and looks broken on the top hinge now that I look at it.
Does this mean the optics are good? Should it make ice if light is steady and I need to replace that little springed door?

It sounds like the optics are good. If the flapper is broken then that would be the problem:

Whirlpool Gold GS6NBEXRL00 Won't Make Ice

Hello~
like the O.P., my same model refrigerator Whirlpool Gold #GS6NBEXRL00 is doing the same thing- not making ice. It was working fine & then just suddenly stopped producing it. When I open the door, the light blinks twice rapidly with a delay. When I hold the little flapper door (with a hole in it), the light goes solid. The little flapper door seems to function fine, as it opens & closes fluidly. If I close the door light switch, the light goes out with flapper door open or closed. Is this relevant? I would appreciate any input.
Thanks~ Joey

First look at the fill tube going into the ice maker and see if it’s blocked with ice. If it’s not blocked then you’ll need to determine if the ice maker is working by either filling it with water and see if it dumps the ice cubes or force cycle the ice maker.
FORCE CYCLE
To force cycle the ice-maker, remove the cover over the module and locate holes “T” and “H”. Take a small piece of wire bent in the shape of a U and short “T” and “H” together. The ice-maker will start the harvest cycle. Wait about 10 seconds and remove wire. The Ice maker will continue through the cycle. At the end of the harvest cycle the ice-maker supplies the coil on the water valve with 110 VAC.
NOTE: If your refrigerator uses the Optics, you’ll also have to tape the emitter flap back and not block the space between the emitter and receiver. You will also need to hold the light switch in until the ice maker starts then remove the wire. Close the freezer door

As I outlined, when you open the freezer door, the light bleeps twice rapidly followed with a delay. When I hold the flapper door (with the hole in it) closed, the light glows solid. If I hold the freezer light switch closed, the light extinguishes. SO THEN, I followed your instructions about forcing a Harvest Cycle by shorting out the "T & H" connectors... & NOTHING (yes I taped the emitter flap back & held the light switch).
Okay, what next???
Thanks~ Joey
