whirlpool icemaker - can make function manually
I have a whirlpool ultraease II side by side, the icemaker stopped working all of the sudden. Water comes into the icemaker, and it freezes but the arm does not turn on its own all of the sudden. I can push the arms manually and the it will start functioning and the large gear on the front of the icemaker that states do not adjust manuallywill start turning also. After pushing further it will eventually push out the icecubes and raise the arm and refill and the arm will drop and the process will start over but at some point the arms stop moving until I manually push on them again and it eventually engages again and will start the whole process again. I noticed that the ice that I manually dispensed this morning was not as frozen as it usually is. Any ideas?

First sounds like you have problems with the head of the ice maker, may need to replace the head or the whole ice maker if the ice mold is flaking, coming off. Not frozen can mean you turned it too soon or the freezer is not cold enough, which will also not let the ice maker start on its own as it has to be around 10 degrees in the freezer for the ice maker to work... might want to start by seeing what the freezer temp is before doing anything else....
