Water Dispenser Tubing has "green film"
Hello,
The tubing coming out from the frig to the water dispenser has developed a green "film" inside. I was able to clean the very end of the tubing, but can't get further back. Plus, I'm wondering if this green stuff is throughout the whole line.
Is there any way to clean/flush out the line to, I guess disinfect it? I'm hoping I don't need to have a tech come out and pay 100's of dollars to replace the tubing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Cheryl

It would be very difficult to clean it internally, replacing it is the best way, whats the model#?

Green film problem
Thanks, Jake, for your reply.
It's a Whirlpool Gold, Model # GD5SHAXKB00.
Is this something we could actually replace ourselves? Or, should we really leave it to a professional. Don't want to make things worse!

Its really not that hard to change, You have a connector behind your bottom kick-plate, it comes undone there, then the upper part is in the front dispenser, the plastic water line with that little metal support piece on it. That front trim around your dispenser has 2 small slots underneath the bottom part of the dispenser frame, that pops off with a flathead screwdriver.
Here is the part you need:
Fitting and tube assembly, water dispenser
