Whirlpool RS696PXGQ question
I have a Whirlpool RS696PXGQ and had an E3F2 error code a few months ago. I turned power off for a while and the error went away. The error came back. I disconnected the panel and it went away and worked fine for a few days. Now, the oven won't bake. When I press the bake or broil button, it starts the self clean. I've disconnected the control panel and it still doesn't work. The replacement part is $400 and the oven is $1,000. Does anybody have any recommendations?? It's no longer under warranty.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,
Is there another number after the Q at the end of your model#? Please check, its very important.
Are your sure the error code is E3F2?
Is it displayed now?
Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 sec., replace
keypad.

Thanks Scott,
Here's the tech. data sheet on it:
http://www.servicematters.com/docs/w...%203192239.pdf
It says for that error code, that a key on your keypad is held down too long, or shorted, its likely shorted, other than replacing the control panel keypad assembly nothing else would fix it.
Here's the cheapest price I found on your control panel keypad assembly:
Manufacturer's Number: 4451232

Jake,
Thanks for the reply. How can I tell that it's the keypad and not the microcomputer behind the keypad? The company said that once it's installed I cant return the keypad if it's not the keypad that's defective. I want to make sure before I spend $400.
Thanks,
Scott

What company told you that Scott? I will guarantee you will get a full refund if the keypad panel assembly doesn't fix it.
Don't worry Scott, it will fix it, I've changed these before and its always fixed it.
There's no other way to test that keypad control panel that I know of.

Hey Jake,
Thanks for the prompt reply. I ordered the part from repairclinic.com. They will let me return it even ater it's been installed. The lady I spoke w/ at appliance parts pros said once it was opened I couldn't return it.
How long should the part last? They told me it only had a 90 day warranty. At $400, I'm hoping I won't have to replace it again.
Thanks again,
Scott

She is wrong, We have a special arrangement with them, the same as we do with Repairclinic, I will contact the owner of appliancepartspro and let him know she needs to be corrected.
Most all parts nowadays only have a 90 day warranty when you buy them new, but you shouldn't have to worry, the control panel keypad assembly should last for many years to come.
