Whirlpool Super Capacity 465 oven stuck in self cleaning mode
Brand:
Whirlpool
Age:
More than 10 years
Tried to initiate a cleaning cycle and noticed the door didn't lock. Then tried to cancel the cycle. The display shows the "lock'd" indication below the clock and "LOC" in red in the upper right of the display. At this point I am not able to start the oven or broiler. I removed the panels on the back to expose the door lock solenoid to see if it was energized and it is not. I tried unplugging the unit for several hours only to have it remain in the same state. Control board? What do you think?

Ok, look again at your door lock assembly and see if you notice the little switch button is pushed in or not with the little metal lever.
If pushed-in then raise the metal lever and see if the "LOC" goes off.
Unplug your range first before checking that. Then once you raise the metal lever plug it in, but be careful not to touching anything.

The switch is not made. I checked it with a VOM and it is functioning normally; closing when depressed and opening on release. I had the range unplugged over night and when I plugged it in the "lock'd" indicator returned along with "PF" in the upper left of the display. I depressed the clock button to reset the PF and LOC returned.
