Default Whirlpool Icemaker Problem

I have a Whirlpool fridge, freezer on top type. It's manufactured in '96, model ET20TKXDN03. My problem is with the icemaker. It makes ice ok, but after dumping the cubes into the bin here's where the problem starts. During the refill operation, water fills the tray and doesn't stop for approxiamately 10 to 15 seconds after the operation. This water then overflows into the ice bin and I end up with a block of ice with embedded cubes. I changed the lower fill valve soleniod (little blue valve on the bottom of unit). This was recommended by my local appliance parts store, but I still have the same problem as before. That little booger cost me $40!!!!

Your motor module assy more than likely is your failure. The only thing that conrtols the water is the module and the valve.

Applianceguy, thanks for the assist. Is that a part I can buy or do I have to get a new ice maker? My area of expertise doesn't include icemakers.

P/N 626678 is for the motor module. Disconnect the icemaker, remove the front cover, then remove 3 screws that holds the module in place. Remove and install the new module, re-install the icemaker.
