Our Whirlpool dishwasher DU850DWGB2 is doing all cycle functions beside moving through the cycle by itself. I assume the timer is bad. Any ideas? Do I have to replace this expensive part?
Thanks for any ideas. |

When you say doing all cycle functions, do you need to manually advance it to operate, or does it fill and wash but the timer stalls during the wash cycle?

If I manually move the timer through the cycle the dishwasher will perform the step, until I manually move ti to the next step. For example it got stuck in heat dry and it heated a whole night long and melted all plastic lids, which were close to the heating element. The timer does not move through the cycle by himself at all. I hope this answers your question Brian

If it's not moving, then it looks like a new timer is in order. The only other thing you should check for piece of mind would be to get to the timer and check for voltage to the timer motor, and make sure all the wires are seated in the connector. The door switches would need to be actuated and you should read 110vac approx. between the tan/red and white/violet wires leading to the timer motor. But you are most likely going to end up needing a new timer.
