Default Quiet Partner III Drain / Heater Problem

Hello,

Thanks for a great site.

I have a Whirlpool Quiet Partner III (GU2500XTPS1) dishwasher that is having two problems. I am not sure if the two are related.

Problem 1: Heater Element
I know I have a problem with my heating element and it needs to be replaced. The last time we used the heated dry it gave off a burning smell and I have noticed the element has pieces chipped off of it. I think our hard water may have contributed to the decay of this part. I am looking for what part to order and guidance on the installation.

Problem 2: Not fully draining
After the dishwasher is done and the clean light comes on there is still water in the bottom of the dishwasher. If I push the drain/cancel button the dishwasher will drain out. Sometimes I have to push the button a second time to fully drain. Not sure if pieces of my heating element that broke off our plugging something or not. I did read some posts and tried to get at my chopper assembly but I was unable to figure out how to gain access to it.

Any help and direction on these issues is greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Hi,

Here's the heating element for your model you can order:
Manufacturer part#W10134009 is RepairClinic item#1381534

The easiest way to change it :
You unhook your plumbing, electrical, and drain hose from it and pull your dishwasher out to get to the back of it, thats where the plastic nuts hold it in place, they just unscrew to remove it, remove the wires that connect to each heater terminal first.

Here's the online repair manual for this model:

Yes, for the drain issue it sounds like you have a slight clog either in the chopper screen or where your drain hose hooks up to your garbage disposal or plumbing under your sink.

This thread explains how to check your chopper screen and check valve:

The repair manual also explains in more detail how to access them.
