Hey everyone,
My GU1200XTLQ1 Whirlpool Gold Dishwasher is about 5 years old and is just now giving me problems. The dishes don't seem to clean very well anymore, I don't think it completes a full cycle. The other day I opened up the dishwasher and it hadn't full drained (LED's blinking).
Right this moment, the "Rinse Only" LED is blinking. Nothing happens if I press any of the other buttons, except for the "Cancel" button -- it just begins to blink in unison with Rinse Only. I tried turning off the power to the dishwasher for 60 seconds, but nothing happens -- it goes back to the blinking.
I have done some research online and have found the following resources potentially useful to my problem:
http://adcxns1.whirlpool.com/Service...LE/8178151.PDF
tech sheet
http://www.servicematters.com/docs/w...%208537797.pdf
My problem matches a note in the first link: "NOTE: If the line voltage is normal and a single Cycle, Option or Rinse Only light is blinking, the problem is usually a stuck or shorted keypad on the active overlay, not the control. A resistance check of the active overlay should always be made, using the keypad matrix in the product tech sheet, prior to replacing the electronic control.
I am 20 years old studying mechanical engineering so I would like to fix this on my own and avoid ridiculous servicing charges. Is the problem the control panel? Where can I find the replacement part? How do I put the machine into service mode, etc?
Thanks alot,
Javier

Hi Javier,
Yes, the problem is your control panel assembly. You'll need a new one.
You have 2 choices in ordering it. The first choice is the cheapest, but its out-of stock here, it will usually ship in 5-6 days:
Manufacturer's Number: 8534834

8534834
The other choice is that its a little higher in price but its in stock here:
Manufacturer's Number: 8534834
Its very easy to install, just turn your breaker off to your dishwasher, then remove the control panel screws that are mounted on the inner door liner. Then it will tilt out and you just disconnect the ribbon cable from the control board, then take the door switch assembly off and the control board also, they just unsnap.
