Default Whirlpool Quiet Partner III Gold Door Leak Model DU1050

Greetings,

I have been experiencing a door leak on my dishwasher for the past few weeks. When I feel under the door in the insulation it is soaking wet on the left and right sides. I tried running it empty with 2 cups of vinegar and it didn't leak as much. Then tried using dishwasher detergent (powdered) and a sponge and scrubbed the area around the hindge which seemed to help a little bit. Sometimes it leaks on the left side but not the right and seems to leak more when I have it loaded with dishes. Any ideas on what it might be and how to resolve?

Thanks!

Todd

Hi Todd,

Remove the outer door panel by removing all those hex screws on the inner door. Then that panel slides up and out.

Then you can get a better view of where its leaking at.

Hi Jake, after removing the outer door panel it looks like the water is splashing out the bottom of the door. Seems to be a lot of buildup at the bottom of the door (is that the vent area?) When it runs I can see water splash at the bottom left corner. I tried to remove some of the crud and it leaked less, perhaps my hard water is taking a toll on my dishwasher and causing buildup? Seemed to be soap residue and maybe mineral deposits.

Your vent is at the top of your door.

You might want to buy this:
Removes built-up soap scum and discoloration due to iron and other water impurities. Also works great in washing machines, porcelain sinks and porcelain tubs.
Glisten Dishwasher Cleaner and Deodorizer

And see if that clears up the problem.

I ran glisten through the normal cycle twice and it is not leaking as much from the bottom left corner. Seems to still be splashing a little over the edge when it runs. Any ideas as what I could try next?

Thanks again for all help and advice.

Whats the complete model# of your dishwasher? DU1050 is just a partial#

The model# tag should be located inside your dishwasher on the upper walls of your inside tub, they I can see if it has a splash guard on your model.

Thanks,

I don't see a splash guard on your model.

I'm not sure whats continuing to cause the water leak, next time it leaks open the door to see if any suds are in the tub with the water.
