Last week I put groceries in my freezer and went upstairs. About 30 minutes later I came back down to find a large puddle in front of my freezer ( I have a side by side Conquest GS6SHA). I then opened the freezer door to have water come gushing out at me. The entire freezer looked like someone had burst a water ballon in it because everything was wet from top to bottom. I dried everything up and returned the food to the freezer. Since then I have not had any more leaks, but my ice maker has not produced any ice either. The water dispenser in the door does work. Are the two issues related? Any idea what could be the cause?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Hi,
It sounds like your water inlet valve solenoid stuck open and didn't close to shut the ice maker water off. Quote:
The model# tag is located inside your refrigerator section on the right side upper wall. Jake

The model number is GS6SHAXLQ02. Is this something I will be able to fix myself?

Thanks,
Yes, just pull your refrigerator out from the wall, turn off your water supply to the refrig. then take off the water supply line connector that connects to it. Then unmount it from the cabinet, then take off the electrical connectors to it(make down were they go first) then take off the plastic tubing. Then install the new one in the reverse order. Here's the one for your model you can order: Manufacturer's Number: 4389177 Jake
