Post Quiet Partner III - GU2500XTP - Keeps Running

Keeps Running, stuck on 39 minutes
I have a dishwasher that has started to act up after 2 years of flawless operation. It's a Whirlpool GU2500XTPB6. It never gets out of the wash cycle. The minute display stays on 39 minutes and it never moves, it just keeps running. One time I let it run 1.5 hours to make sure it really was stuck. If i stop it it, it will drain and the dishes are then clean. Any suggestions as to where I should start?fficeffice" />>>

Hi,

Here's the tech. data sheet for your model:
https://www.servicematters.com/docs/...%208535451.pdf

Possibly a bad heating element or control board.

You can run a diagnostics test, run it through twice and at the end of the 2nd time, feel just above your heating element to see if its hot.

SERVICE DIAGNOSTICS CYCLE NOTES

NOTE 1.
To start the Service Diagnostics Cycle, press the following keys, in order, in less than 6 seconds, while in standby:
Heated Dry, Normal, Heated Dry, Normal

Report back what you find.

Default Ran Diagnostics

Hi Jake,
That was cool, I ran thru the diagnostics and it here are the numbers it displayed:>>
88, d2, 12, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6 (Normal, Locked lights), 5 (Rinse, Locked lights), 4 (Normal, Soaking lights), 3 (Rinse Light), 2 (Normal Light), 1 (Rinse Light). We did this twice as you requested. We then felt above the Heat Element and then actually touched it because there was no heat coming off of it and it was room temperature. Please advice.>>

Ok,

You would need to ohm your heating element for continuity, a good element should show 30 ohms or less.

Make sure the breaker is off to your dishwasher first. Its likely the electrical terminals are in the very back, so you'll likely need to pull your dishwasher out to ohm the heating element. Take the heating element wires off first before testing the element for continuity.

But first feel your heating element all around inside your dishwasher, if you feel bumps on it or pits in it, its definitely your element thats bad.

Here's the heating element for your model:
Manufacturer part#W10134009 is RepairClinic item#1381534
W10134009

Default Tested Heater Element

Hi Jake,
I pulled the dishwasher out and removed the heater element leads and tested the element. I am getting between 10 & 11 OHM's. You said less than 30. I read the article about typical ohm readings and it sounds like this reading is too low. So i think i will order the coil. What do you think.

Yes, that seems abit low, I'd order the heating element.
