Question Leaking Water Inside Fridge, defrost drain clogged?

I have referenced the above entitled post from Jan. '07. We have the same problem and have used tried putting hot water down the drain as well as using a hair dryer as we think the drain may be clogged. Our model # is ET21DKXDB04 - Whirlpool Gold top freezer, I believe it was manufactured in late '05 or early '06. Do we need to work from the back of the refrigerator? Not sure if what is being done is working.

Hi,

Did you run something down the drain hole?

I use a evaporator cooler spider snake:
http://www.azpartsmaster.com/Products/Cooler-Spider-Snake__CLR4690.aspx

They are used basically in Arizona to clean out the water pump tubes that run to the cooler pads.

I don't know if they would sell them in your area, but if you go to your local hardware store, they should have something similar to run down your drain to clean it completely out.

Default Leaking Water Inside Fridge, defrost drain clogged

Thank you. We actually thought that melting the ice did the job because we had no water dripping for almost 2 days, then it started. It is impossible to see the drain hole on this model (ET21DM) but if my husband can find the tool, he said he would try to find the drain hole.

The drain hole is located directly underneath your evaporator coil behind the back access panel in your freezer.

You may not be able to see it at first because it may be hidden in all the ice thats built-up from it not draining.
