Hello all, recently my whirlpool ED5CHQXKB04 completely stopped working (No lights or sound), I've checked the outlet, breaker and manual temperature controls (turning the knobs). If anyone can help me with I would really appreciate it!!

Hi,
Thats odd, something should light up if you have 120 volts to your refrigerator. Check the power cord that connects to your refrigerator, the plastic connector may have come loose. Jake

Thanks for the prompt reply Jake, I check the plastic connector and it wasn't loose. I tried to take it off to get a look at the connectors but it was a pain to get off. Any suggestions?

Hey Jake, listen to this one. I plugged the fridge up and slapped it on it's side and got nothing, next I started playing with the knobs on the inside to see if i could get any response.. still nothing. I got the bright idea of checking the cord again to see if there were any breaks and got hit with a small jolt of electricity....LOL. I dropped the cord and looked down to see that the cord had exposed wiring where it melted (from a short). I'm calling some places now to track down a replacement cord, thanks again!!!

Excellent, good job finding it was the power cord.
![]() Here's the original power cord assembly for your model: Manufacturer's Number: 4389205 But its $73 which is abit high for a power cord, even with the wire harness assembly, you can probably take the old power cord down to your local appliance part store and they can match you with just the cord for about $15-$20.
