Default overflow

I think I have read the answer to this one several times but the water on the modular ice maker in our whirlpool s x s refrigerator overflowed to the point of dripping when the valve stayed open for several seconds too long. I have only caught it doing this once so far. It does not drip between fills so it would be the ice maker instead of the fill valve?

Hi,

Is this the model# of your refrigerator:
106.54582400

I read your other previous posts, and did you replace the ice maker control module 2 years ago when that gear fell off?

Usually its a bad ice maker module that causes it to overflow, but if you changed it 2 years ago, it would be odd for it to go bad again so soon.

I ended up replacing the whole ice maker two years ago as the cost was about the same as a module. The ice maker I replaced was about two years old. I admit that we use the ice maker and water dispenser to the extreme. I just want to make sure the over run is due to the icemaker instead of the valve sticking open.

Yes, it should be just the ice maker causing the overflow, if it was the water inlet valve, then it would either always drip water into the ice maker or just continuously run into the ice all the time, till you turned you house water supply line off.

Since you use your ice maker to the extreme, it may be to your advantage to add the Lifetime Warranty for $23.74 when you purchase it here:
