Have not had any problems before for last 8 years. Just finished a complete cycle and emptied it. Now if the door is closed every few seconds it displays 2 on the indicator and you hear the unit try to pump water out for a second or two, then it stops, tries again, and again, and doesn't stop trying.

I can still do a complete cycle otherwise.

It also does allow me to push any button, including the cancel one that similarly displays 2 and empties the unit completely.

The control panel is an expensive part. The control board is half as much.

Thanks for any advice.

Kind regards,
Paul

Hi Paul,

I remember helping another member here with almost this same issue, I assumed it was the control panel since he said some of the buttons were unresponsive, but it turned out to be the control board that fixed it, here's that thread:
[FIXED] Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner IV - control panel issues

Here's the control board for your model you can order:
Manufacturer's Number: 8564542

8564542

We have a special program here that when you click-through to order parts from our site and it doesn't fix the problem, you can return it within 30 days for a full refund.

New problem. Installed the board. Ran a quick wash for a test.

1) hear it filling up, stops, starts to rinse, stops, puts some more water in, stops, continues rinsing (I don't remember it doing that before), displays 46

2) completes rinse, pumps out the water, refills, starts wash cycle.

3) counts down, 45, 44...down to about 32, switches display to 2 and pumps out the water

4) blinks 7 times on clean led.

Found it and fixed it, using the video found here...

http://fixitnow.com/wp/2007/01/20/bl...t-dishwashers/

I went through the steps and found that it was one of the latch switches that was not making contact. After some adjustments it then allowed the heating element to come on during the cycle.

I'm getting the 7 blinks problem intermittently. I've gone through all the checks in the video. Can you help me eliminate all the possible causes I could miss? Did I get a faulty control board? Thanks Paul

No, not likely.

Feel all around your heating element inside the bottom of your tub, do you feel any pits or bumps in it? Is it white with water calcium sediment on it?

No pits, no calcium, it looks like brand new.
