Angry whirlpool model Gs6shaxmb00 not cooling

My whirlpool Gs6shaxmb00 is not cooling though the freezer section is working just fine. it's maintaing a temp. of 50F-54F. I check the upper damper and felt air coming in but the return section between the drawer was frozen. I turn of the refrigerator and melt the ice in that return damper but no improvement. I then checked the freezer section, the Evaporator was not frozen but the drain hole was clogged(frozen).I cleared the clogged, check the resistor on the heater it reads 28 ohms.run fridge again for a few day with no improvement. Lower damper again frozen. I assume it's the control board but dont know how to diagnose a test for it. I have also noticed on the manual there is no defrost time so I guess it's amust be integrated into the board . Any help will be kindly appreciated.

Hi,

Are you talking about the #4 louver return air damper here:

Put your hand in front of the upper left side air diffuser#15 inside the refrigerator section, then notice how much air comes out, then open the freezer door and notice again how much air comes out, can you feel any difference?

Ok, sounds like you have an air leak causing the condensation and freezing in the return air vent and air diffuser.

Check your door gaskets to make sure they are sealing properly against the cabinet.

This all of a sudden just started happening out of the blue? You didn't have this problem in the summer?

I tried sliding a bus pass (metrocrd) in new york, slighly thinner than a credit card and it was able to slide through both doors gaskets. Never have this problem in the summer. This started happeming about three weeks ago when I observed my milk started spoiling.

Ok, what I would do is thaw both vents out with a hair dryer, and pop the #4 return air one off(just unsnaps) and run hot water down it, and see if after a while it goes back to frosting up again. If so then you may need to call a tech. out to see why this is happening.

On the ones I went out on for this, it was just either someone left the door cracked open all night or the door gaskets were bad and leaking air in.

Last night I thaw out each vent and pour hot water down #4. I also have to thaw the drain line and pour hot water to be sure it was clear. Now the temp. is decreasing, it's now 45F and lower. My question is this,if the drain line continues to be frozen could there be a problem with the bimetal defrost having the heater on while during the refrigeration cycle?
