Whirlpool Quiet Partner III not cleaning dishes
Brand:
Whirlpool
Age:
1-5 years
Hello all,
I have a Whirlpool Quiet Partner III dishwasher model GU2500. Just last week the dishwasher stopped cleaning so I went to this forum and looked for several answers.
The top spinner was not spinning at all so I looked and found information about the course food grinder and the rubber check valve located next to it. I ordered a new one (they were about $12) and then proceeded to replace the check valve. When I took it apart, low and behold there were remains of several wine glass charms in the chopper area. I removed everything I could find down there, cleaned it up and put the new check valve in place. I then put everything back together and made sure the top spinned (basically opening the door to see if it is in another position).
Ran a load and it appeared much better but then we put the second load in and it did not clean stuff off that a simple spray from the sink removed.
It sounds right (not too quiet, not too noisy) and everything appears to be getting wet inside. Any ideas?

Hi Rich,
GU2500 is a partial model#, please post your complete model#, Its located inside the dishwasher on the inside of the tub frame on the left or right side.
Its possible your motor/impeller thats bad causing this.

My machine is the GU2500XTPT6.
Some of the glasses have a milk-y "fog" while others don't (top rack), and stainless pots have a multi-color film (bottom rack).
Certainly doesn't seem to be cleaning as well as it used to. Haven't noticed any difference in noise level...
Tried running the 2 cups of white vinegar as suggested in the owner's manual... Only a slight improvement...
I would appreciate your suggestions.

For the wash ability issue, your pump may be semi-clogged with hard water deposits, GE makes a good product that cleans everything out you can buy:
Citric acid- mineral deposit remover

Thanks, Jake. I'll give it a try. If that's it, I feel very lucky for a 6 year old unit!!

MUCH better! I think few more treatments should do the trick! Immediate results from the citric acid however! The fog on my glassware is gone, and so is the "metallic" smell. Some of the pots are still "coated," and the black plastic cooking utensils still have a bit of a chalk-y appearance. But vinegar cleans them up, and I'm confident they too will recover.
I had posted this problem in a separate thread, far more detailed than this one... Can't find it... Assuming it was deleted as a duplicate.
Thanks again for your time and attention!
