GU1500XTKB0 - Dead? Or Not?
Howdy All,
I have this Whirlpool dishwasher, which I've made some repairs on in the past with the excellent support from Jake here.
But I have a new issue:
Last night I started the dishwasher and went to bed.
Got up this morning and no lights were on, so I thought someone had opened it after the cycle.
But I had water standing in the bottom, and I can't get any lights to light up.
Tried the circuit breaker and a different outlet, but no luck.
I'm thinking of the door latch assembly???
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Brian

Hi,
Check for an open ( no continuity ) thermal fuse...it is in the consol...

Fuse kit with wire harness and instructions
Failing that, check the power and door switches.

Jeff,
Thanks for the reply.
You say that the fuse is in the consol, do you mean behind the front panel with the buttons?
Thanks,
Brian

Thanks again, Jeff.
So I pulled out the control board and I ohm out the thermostat and I get an open.
I've ordered the part, but I have a question.
What causes this component to fail/open?
THanks,
Brian

Most commonly has been a loose connection in the fuse itself....that why it is important to use ALL of the kit....sometimes a bad heating element, thermostat...

Jeff,
I got the new TCO.
What's with the screw-on connector?
Can't I just disconnect the spade adapters from the old one and plug them on the new won?
Also, you mention that the heating element might be what caused the TCO to blow, is there a way to test the heating element so I don't hook up the new TCO and blow it right away?
Thanks,
Brian

No Brian, YOU MUST use the new wires that come with it.
I took the easy way one time and had to go back because it blew out again, then I changed the wires that came with the kit, never went back again.

From my experience, its the faulty original wires that make that fuse blow.

Jake and Jeff,
Is it the spare connectors themselves that have a problem? As that is the only part that is replaced as far as the wiring goes?
I did just put the fuse in, and it did blow again.
I guess I'll order another and do the wiring thing and see how that goes.
Is there something else I should be checking?
Thanks again,
Brian
