Default Dishwasher is at it again.

    Model Number: Gu1500xtkq0
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 6-10 years

Well, the dishwasher is at it again. Left the house and it was running. Came home and it was off with water standing in the bottom. Tried pushing the Cancel/Drain button with no response. I tried other keys on the pad and there was no response. Checked the circuit breaker and it was fine. Turned it off and back on again to be sure. What do I need to test for this one?

Its likely the thermal fuse went out this time.

Watch this video, it shows how to ohm a thermal fuse for continity, yours will look different, but ohms exactly the same.

Here's the thermal fuse for your model:
Manufacturer part number 8193762 is RepairClinic item number 959376

    Here's the video:

Sorry I didn't update that last thread. I didn't do any of the testing. After some investigation, I believe the dispenser hasn't been opening all the way because of aphysical obstruction in the dishwasher. My wife likes to put the tray from our high chair right in front of the dispenser. If the tray isn't pushed all the way down, the door tends to get caught on it when it tries to open. Since my investigation and subsequent discussion with my wife about it, it seems to be happening far less. She says about twice since that last thread. The tray also gets washed by hand more often now.

I will get back to you about the thermal fuse.

Ok, the thermal fuse is no good. Would there be something else wrong with the dishwasher that would cause the thermal fuse to go?

Nope, they had an issue with the wiring that connects to the thermal fuse that was causing the thermal fuse to go out.

So the new thermal fuse will come with new wiring and you MUST install the wires that come with the new thermal fuse, or it will keep going out forever.

The video above shows you how.

    FIXED!

The machine is up and running again. It picked up where it had left off too. That impressed me. I also replaced the black flapper valve in an attempt to resolve my food bits issue that I spoke about in another thread. I didn't find anything visually wrong with the old but thought for the price it was worth a try. I did notice the new one appeared a tad smaller, but seems to fit well when installed. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again!
