Default Whirlpool Quiet Partner III Dishwasher Skipping Wash Cycle

This morning, my father noticed that our dishwasher is skipping it's wash & rinse cycles. The panel lights come on as they should and the dishwasher will fill and empty, but it doesn't actually "run" the cycle. He removed the side of the cabinet to take a look at it but cannot seem to suss out the problem. It's relatively new, at about 2 to 2 1/2 years old and we've never had any other problems with it before.

Any help or perspective anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated here. (In the mean time, I've managed to land the job of hand washing the dishes and they're making casserole tonight :P)

    Thanks!

Hey, sorry about the double post but I thought I would let you know - both so no one tried to answer the question and so that anyone who might be having a simmilar problem at some point would know - we got the dishwasher working again.

He just spent about an hour laying on our kitchen floor but it's all hunky dorey now.

Turns out, there was a mysterious "something" stuck in the pump impeller. He stuck a screwdriver in there to turn it and heard the "something" fall out. The manual says that the "something" will grind itself up in the dishwasher now and not to worry about it.
