Default Whirlpool Quiet Partner IV - Stops in mid wash

We have a Whirlpool Quiet Partner IV. It came with the house we bought so I am guessing it is six or seven years old by now. The last couple of times we have used it, it has stopped working towards the middle of the drying cycle. It washes the dishes fine but when it gets to the dry cycle it seems to stall. I have tried different wash modes and that doesn't seem to have an effect. When it "stalls" for lack of a better word, it is still getting power but the display begins to flash intermitently. No additional lights turn on when it flashes, just the count down timer and approprate setting lights. I tried opening and closing the door but that had no effect. I am forced to cancel the wash using the cancel/drain button and that works fine. There is no water left at the bottom of the tub and the dishes are clean. It always (so far) happens during the drying cycle. If this is going to be an expensive fix, I would rather just get a new dishwasher. On the same hand, I don't want to spend more money than I need to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,

It sounds like your control board has gone bad, whats the model# of your dishwasher?

I believe that the model number is GU3600. Is this going to be an expensive repair that may justify replacing the whole unit? We need to make a decision rather quickly as we depend on the dishwasher quite a bit. We had a similar repair a couple of years ago. Not sure what was actually replaced that time though.

    Jake,

I have to take that first model number back. After checking when I got home today, I noticed the model number is as follows:

    GU1500XTKT0

My questions still stands, however. Is this an expensive repair if it is in fact the control board? And does it make sense to consider replacing the entire unit?

    Thanks in advance!

Here is the control board for your model:
Electronic control assembly Its about $95.00.

If your dishwasher is 7 years old, and you use it alot, like daily or many times a day, then it would be better to purchase a new dishwasher.
