Whilpool Super Capacity 465
Model: SF395LEEQ 0 Serial: R63017708 ![]() The oven has been working without any problems. Then last night, I turned the oven on. Let it preheat for 10 minutes. I came back when it beeped indicating preheating was complete. I opened the door, and felt the oven and it was warm, maybe 90 degrees. I did not smell any gas though. I pulled the bottom storage bin out to see what I could find. I set the oven to 350 and pressed start. Under the oven I noticed the igniter (circled in yellow) would glow for 6-8 seconds then dim for 4 seconds and repeat. I let this occur for about 40 seconds then turned the oven off. I noticed a wire wrapped around the igniter base and thought it looked too tightly wrapped. So I disconnected the harness (circled in red), gently moved the wire and plugged the harness together again. Now the igniter will not even glow when attempting to light the oven. So I put the wire back to its original path. I disconnected and reconnected the harness several times to make sure it is connected. The igniter still will not glow and the oven will not light. I do not smell gas. The range and broiler both work without any problems. Initially, I thought the gas line may have a spider web preventing the flow of gas to the oven, but now my igniter won't even glow. Any help would be appreciated. |

Hi,
Great Photo! I love when people include photos with their questions, makes helping someone alot easier. ![]() Ok, you will need a volt/ohm meter, you can buy one locally in your town at either Radio Shack or any hardware store, or online here. Then you will need to do a voltage check by disconnecting that igniter connector(circled in red) and put your meter probes in the red wires side of that connector, then turn on your oven, if your meter reads 120 volts, that means your igniter is out. Here is the igniter for your model you can order: Oven/broiler igniter Jake

The igniter arrived today. What is the best way to takle replacing it? Should I pull the stove out and work on it from behind? Should I turn off the gas?

The best way to change it is to go in from the inside bottom panel of your oven as described here:

Wow, that was easy. I fired up the oven and it smells like the last thing I cooked before it broke. Mmmmm... pizza. Thanks again Jake.
