I'm hoping I can get some diagnostic advice on intermittent failure of our oven. Model number is SF377PEGQ 5, it's about 6 years old.
When using the oven, especially for prolonged periods of time such as roasting, the oven will just switch off. Can't remember exactly what you get on the display, I think it can vary. Also, all stove functions work normally. I've found the only way to get the oven to work again, other than leave for prolonged period, is to completely disconnect power. It will usually work when the power is restored. I suspect it must be something related to the electronic control system, but not sure whether there might be a sensor that is faulty. Thanks |

When your oven switches off does it get to the proper temp. first? Then it doesn't cycle back on again to keep a constant temp.?

Usually the oven will work perfectly normally to start. It will get up to required temp and hold it there, maybe for an hour or two. Then it will switch off, sometimes we don't realize it has turned off. In this case, the control panel is inoperable, not possible to change temp, turn off/on etc, so far as the panel is concerned. When it is in this state, the only recovery I have found (while cooking the Christmas turkey
) was to disconnect mains power for a few mins, then reconnect. It then proceeded to work normally again. Thanks, Ian |

Jake -
While my wife is using the oven (we have a SF365PEG about 4 years old) for a long time like roast etc. The oven will get an error on the panel 'P' something as per my wife and the light will light up that says shut off the stove. SHe will wait ten minutes and reuse the oven and it normally will work. Then she will run a cleaning cycle and get about a month out of it then has to do it again. We only use the oven once a week or twice then the error comes back. Is this also the controller? Thanks Andy |

Yes, this sounds like your control board is acting up as well. But your control board is not the same as the one I posted above.
SF365PEG is a partial model# there should be another letter and number after the PEG. Jake

The model is SF365PEGT. How much does a controller cost and is it something a DIY can install?

Here it is for your model:
Electronic range control, biscuit Its about $161, its not hard to install, just pull your range out from the wall, take off the top back access panel, and you will see it mounted in there. Jake

Jake,
Sorry for delay since last response. The control board is what I suspected but I wouldn't have wanted to start ordering parts without expert help. It looks like it should be easy to install. Regards Ian |
