Default light and LED's quit working.

On my Whirlpool side-by-side GS5SHAXNL00, the refrigerator light and control LED's quit working. The refrigerator seems to be cooling fine and the freezer light still works.

I've checked the bulb. The door switch checks OK and there is about 107v at the switch wires (switch out of circuit). It seems like power is not getting to the console where the light and LED's are located... Any ideas on what to check next??

Try unplugging your refrigerator for about 5 minutes to see if it will reset, if not, then if your getting 107 volts to your control assembly, its likely your control assembly is malfunctioning.

Here is a new control assembly for your model:

Default Whirpool Conquest Gold side X side

Hello Jake. I have the EXACT same problem (no fridge lights or control led lights). Door switch is ok, bulbs are okay. I did order the new control panel from Sears (about $165.00) but still no luck. Any help or ideas appreciated. Very, very disappointed in this unit (only 2 years old/ been in the dark for 6 months) I called a whirpool ASP and they want $85.00 just to come out and diagnose. I would not mind paying to repair this problem but don't want to get ripped off if it is something serious. After reading all the negs on this unit, if it is serious I just might pitch it...Geo

If you changed that part I listed above and it didn't fix it, the only other control board is this one #18 here:
http://www3.sears.com/imaging/ImageP...&titleID=00011
It looks like its located in the back near your condenser fan.

Here is the one for your model:
Electronic control board

If this doesn't fix it, you can return the part for a full refund.

Default Update... it was the control board in the back.

The lights and control LEDs are powered from the control board in the rear of the refridge. When a bulb blows, it will sometimes fry the control board. It seems to be a common occurrence in the Whirlpool refrigerators.

Here's a long thread about this problem at: http://www.diychatroom.com/showthread.php?t=5577

I bypassed the board as mentioned in post #42 and #45 and didn't have to replace the board.

Thanks Jerry for posting that, I wasn't aware myself that it was a common occurrence in the Whirlpool refrigerators.
