Not overly common for off-balanced unless customer uses smaller loads or mixes loads ( 1 heavy item with a bunch of light ones ).
Usually just make noises and doesn't damage the springs.

  2. Hi Jeff thanks. Just trying to get use to granny's machine. Caught it banging again today with the blankets and it actually moved the machine a little. Are the bases pretty strong on this and the outer tub to withstand that banging. And what's banging on the sides anyway? Just the tub? What damage can occur if ever any?

Not normally...odd time the WLC hose can get pulled off, can bang against the lid switch and damage it, can pull the wires off of the lid switch.

Doesn't happen all the time. And doesn't happen through spin just when the cycle clicks off an the tub is coming to a stop I hear a slight whine like its whining down.

    Hi,
Brake, clutch, tub drive block would definetly be prime suspects.
