Jack - ? for GE Arctica water dispenser. A week ago I left the door light on (as fix per another post) and got water before it froze up again. Read lots of threads so thought problem easily fixed with GE WR49X10173 Dispenser Water Tube Heater kit. A handyman, Steve, installed one for me yday.

Now 24 hours and still no water. Could it take longer to defrost? Ice maker works fine (and always has). What to try next? In a Feb post you wrote "use a multi-meter to check resistance through coil at the dual valve" If Steve can do this is that next step? Any other thoughts are greatly appreciated?

p.s. Steve wasn't sure where to attach the 2 kit wires as there are 5 inside the door and wire colors in instructions didn't match up; he'd guessed & heat generated once in so thought it would work. Could problem be its hooked up to wrong wires? I'd think not as if its generating heat its doing its job, right? Im so non-technical I'm way out of my league....THX!

Hey jackofalltrades. Thank you for your feedback regarding the freezing of my side by side drain. I proceeded to melt the ice, free up the drain, and lower the cold settings to midrange. The plug froze up within a day. It seems that the automatic defroster is on the blink or could it be the thermostat. Irving
