I have a Kenmore coldspot 106.44423603 the ice maker stopped dropping ice and i have tried to follow other posts but want to ensure i get this right.
  • added water manually to the ice maker and it will freeze and then push it into the door bin
  • checked the black rubber spout in the freezer and it is not blocked
  • opened back of fridge and took out water line to ice maker, injected warm water and confirmed it flowed thru to the spout and the ice maker (so should be no blockage in the line)
  • water line to the door water still functions normally
I just want to confirm what i need to replace? is it the ice make in the freezer or is it the valve supplying the waterline to the freezer?

If you can ID what the problem is what part do i need and where can i get it?
Thanks so much!
Peter

So cheater test worked. Water came out. Guess it’s the ice maker then. Is there any chance there is a specific problem with the ice maker or has something just crapped out and a new one is the only choice?

The ice maker fill circuit has crapped out, the only solution is to replace the ice maker.

Thanks Jake. I have to ask the link that you gave me for a new ice maker is that the best place to get it price wise? I saw on amazon the same part number but at a lower price. Granted it looks like its a knock off amazon.

Appreciate your help.

No, don't get it at amazon, too many faulty NON-OEM parts come from there.

In fact, if your ice maker tray is not flaking off and does not have white calcium coated on the ice maker tray, you could just order the ice maker module, you'd save over $100 compared to a $200 new ice maker.

Here's the ice maker module for your model you can order:
8201515 Icemaker Motor Module

There is a "how to" video in the ice maker module part link.
