Hello,

I am trying to get some insight in why my fridge is pulling high amps and causing the breaker to trip. Besides the high amperage, the fridge has worked fine. I cleaned off the coils yesterday using a compressed air and a vacuum hoping that was the cause, but the readings are still high.

With the fridge plugged in, the compressor not running and the doors shut the reading was about 1.5 amps
With the fridge plugged in, the compressor not running and both doors open the reading was about 15.8 amps
With the fridge plugged in, the compressor running and both doors open the reading was about 28.96 amps

I then switched the multi meter over to ohms and placed the leads on the two blades of the plug it is beeping that there's continuity and is reading 3.5.

Anything else I should test with the multi meter?

Thanks in advance!

I don't understand what plug you are referring to, the compressor start relay device?

That's way too high when the compressor is not running, shorts like you have a short in your wiring.

Check your wiring at the door switches for a short. Unplug your machine first!

Thanks for the reply, Jake.

I could have a better job of describing it, but I was referring to the wall plug.

Thanks..will do!

Oh wall plug, got it!

I'm not sure what your ohm reading should be on the refrigerator wall plug.
