I have a Kenmore Top Load 110.21302013 that won't run. The lid lock is flashing as well as sensing, but nothing happens. I am getting error codes F5 E1 and F5 E2. I have replaced the lid lock switch and the actuator motor, but still the same errors. Help?

Added complete model number

Hi Steve,

We need the complete model number first, it will start with 110. The model number tag is located under the lid.

W10420384A comes up with nothing.

Where did you find the 2130 number at?

I do get results with 110.2130 below:

Kenmore 110.21302010 automatic washer
Kenmore 110.21302013 automatic washer
Kenmore 110.21302011 automatic washer
Kenmore 110.21302012 washer

But we need the exact model number to help you.

Then you will see a link that says: How to find a model number.

Found it. It wasn't in any of those locations actually. 110.21302013.

Another detail of it's behavior. I took replaced the lid lock switch with a new one. But, if I plug the old one in (just as a test), nothing lights up. But, if I plug the new one back in, it tries. It will light up sensing and blink lid lock.

Thanks Steve,

I'm attaching your tech. data sheet below.

Get into the diagnostic and post the fault code or fault codes you get.

Page 2 of your tech. data sheet do: ACTIVATING THE SERVICE DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES

Then do FAULT CODE DISPLAY MODE on Page 3

Then you can see what fault code/codes you are getting on Page 6 and Page 7: FAULT/ERROR CODES

Let us know what you find.

I found that tech data sheet inside the cabinet of the washer last night. Ran all of the diagnostics and I still come up with the same error - a lid lock error (both f5 e1 and f5 e2). And I've even reset the codes and it continues to recreate that same error. Like I said, I have replaced the lid lock switch with a brand new one.

Sorry Steve, I meant to say to clear those error codes, then see if the washer would start and run, then if not to check if you get the same error codes, so you just answered my question that those error codes returned.

F5E1 – LID SWITCH FAULT
Fault is displayed if lid is in locked state, but lid switch is open; control not sensing the strike in the lid lock.
• User presses START with lid open.
• The main control cannot detect the lid switch opening and closing properly.
• Strike not assembled correctly on the lid.
• Lid lock bezel not installed correctly (must be square to embossing and flush to top).
--->SEE TEST #8: LID LOCK, PAGE 18.

F5E2 – LID LOCK FAULT
Fault is displayed if Lid Lock has not moved into locked position or motor cannot be powered.
• Lid is not closed completely due to interference.
• Check for lock interference with lock striker.
• Wash media buildup (detergent, lint, etc.) is preventing the lock mechanism from sliding.
• Main control detects open lid switch when attempting to lock.
• Main control cannot determine if lid lock is in a locked state.
--->SEE TEST #8: LID LOCK, PAGE 18.

Did you check your door strike? If not, check the lid door strike that's mounted on your lid, to make sure that's not broke. When I order and replace the lid lock on these models I always order and replace the lid door strike as well, as they work together.

Here's the lid door strike for your model(Video Included):

I very much appreciate your willingness to help me.

As for the door strike, it's in good shape. I actually tested it as well by forcing the lid lock over into position with a simple flat head screwdriver. Same outcome.

Ok, so the only thing you can do now is--->SEE TEST #8: LID LOCK, PAGE 18. To make sure your new lid switch assembly is actually good or not.

Here's the lid lock latch assembly for your model:
