110.23832100 Kenmore Washer series 80 drain spin issues

Update, after installing neutral drain kit the washer now goes into the drain cycle properly everytime BUT it never stops draining, (and only drains) all the way to the end of any cycle, it does not initiate a spin cycle. I did rebuild the clutch and insured that the clutch pads were in tight enough from the spring, for the basket drive to push on the clutch for spinning (so they are not slipping). Any ideas? What part initiates the spin cycle?

The pump is attached directly onto the motor. As long as the motor is turning the pump is turning too. When the motor is rotating in agitate direction, the pump turns but does nothing. When the motor reverses, the pump turns in drain direction and will drain. The pump will continue to drain as long as the motor is turning in that direction regardless if the transmission ever shits into spin or not.

What part initiates the spin cycle?

The neutral drain mechanism inside the transmission is what causes the switch between drain only and spin/drain. The neutral drain function is described on PDF page 17 (marked as page 12 on the manual pages) of the service manual I supplied previously.

If the neutral drain kit was installed correctly, I have no idea why the transmission won't shift into spin. Sorry.
