I have a Kenmore 600 washer that I’m trying to figure out why it’s making a grinding sound at the start of the spin cycle. It only last for a few seconds then it goes away. Anyone have any ideas?

I should have added that the machine functions as normal and I’m able to do a load of laundry. It’s just I would like to take care of this problem before it gets any worse.

Hi,

We need the model number first, it will start with 110.

Click here: Appliance Parts at RepairClinic. 125 Brands. 365 Day Returns.

Then you will see a link that says: What is a model number, and where do I find it?.

It sounds like the hub is stripped.

This is the most common hub below, but I need your model number to make sure yours uses this exact same one.:)

Thanks,

You have the older style that uses a metal drive block.

You'll need a spanner wrench to remove the inner tub first: Spanner Wrench

Here's the tub drive block for your model you can order here if needed:
Drive Block WP389140

Video included in part link.

You can see the comparison here:

See the one on the left, its the old one, the one on the right is the new one. It has to have those 2 ear slots. Does yours look like the one on the left or right?

Let us know what you find.

Jake
