We recently acquired a house with a Kenmore 400 washing machine that vibrates and shakes only during the spin cycles. The vibration is so bad that the washer slides itself sideways and has to be straightened up after every cycle. I have taken the machine apart and inspected everything as well as replaced the 3 tub springs and a new counterbalance spring but these have not helped. When I look down into the tub during the spin cycle, the tub appears to be out of balance but I can't figure out exactly why. The liquid filled ring around the tub has liquid in it and does not appear to be leaking. How full should the liquid filled balance ring be?? I would guess mine is 1/2 to 3/4 full of liquid.

Any help would be much appreciated!!! Best I can tell, the washer is not that old and I really don't want to replace it.

Thank you Rick! Although I have not had the tub completely off, I’ve visually inspected these pads from beneath and they appear to be in tact and don’t look worn down. Do you think it’s still worth a shot to replace them?? Thank you for the response!

Yes, I've replaced hundreds of those snubbers and they don't always look worn. There's actually two sets of snubbers but those are the ones that always wear out. The other set of snubbers is on the suspension plate but they don't wear as often:
