I'm having a problem with my HE3t washer. I select a wash option and then the start button and the washer does nothing. I do not see any errors codes at all. The door opens and closes with no problems.

THe red light on the wash cycle select justs flashes. I've unplugged the washer for 5 mins thinking the washer needs to reset but still nothing. I've also cleared the drain but still the same thing.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

Check your door switch button, its just above the door latch, sometimes that button has broken, or the door has dropped abit, not aligning correctly.

Jake

Thanks for the help Jake. Makes sense. I've looked at it and they are slightly miss aligned. The door is slighty lower but when I lift the door slightly it still does not solve the problem. Although, I've not replaced the button.

Thanks Jim

All Hail Jake!

Jake, You're brilliant... It's the button. I got creative with a paper clip and tape so when the door closed the paper clip pushed the button in and the washer started.

I'll a new door latch assembly, please post the part number.

Thanks you saved me a bunch of money!

Jim

HE3 Washer will not start

I am having the same issue as JimN had. I checked the door switch button and it seems to be aligned with the door properly. The latch on the door is not broken either. Any other ideas? I sure need some wash done...

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Even though it seems fine, your door latch assembly internally could be malfunctioning.

Baffled by Similar Problem

I have searched this forum thoroughly and I am sure this problem has not been addressed elsewhere.
I have Model 110.42922200. After I select a cycle and press start, the door locks. After a couple of seconds there is a click from the CCU. The door stays locked and the display remains illuminated. There is no error code. If I press and hold "Start" again, I get the same CCU click - over and over.

I checked the door alignment and everything seems fine. I also checked the Door Lock/Unlock Solenoids and Points 3 to 1 showed 120 ohms. Could that be an issue? Points 3 to 2 showed normal at 60 ohms.

I ran the diagnostic check on the machine, but I cannot get that check to advance past C:00. Again, no fault codes. I am guessing that something in the door switch is failing to signal the CCU to proceed. Any thoughts before I replace the door switch assembly.

Thanks.

Yes, I believe your on the right track, it sounds like your door latch/lock is failing.

If you order a new one from that link I posted to it above and it doesn't solve this problem, you can return it for a full refund within 365 days.

I too had a problem with the door latch. I replaced the entire unit with a new one and it continued to fail to latch. I then scrubbed the connectors on the main circuit board in and out several times, and it began to work normally. I suspect that the control voltage thru the button is low enough that if the contacts get a little dirty the brain won't see a signal. I had the same kind of problem recently with a Kitchen Aid dishwasher. (Cleaning the connector to the front film bottons fixed that too!)

button? what's a "button"?

I did find this early thread that does seem to relate to my Duet problem, but I remember now scratching my head wondering "what do they mean by "button"?"

is this on the door side, the rectangular bit that is supposed to push into the switch?

or what?

Hi there, my washer was displaying f / dl.. so i replaced the door latch and she was up and running again! got through 2 loads of laundry.. and now the SAME FAULT!!! how is this possible? you can hear the latch not engaging, but a very faint click noise (not necessarily the latch..) I checked all the connections to the latch.. it's a brand new latch. can anyone help? what am i missing? thx!!!

Hi,

We need the full model number of your washer first.

Click here: Appliance Parts at RepairClinic. 125 Brands. 365 Day Returns.

Then you will see a link that says: Help me find my model number.

Where is that very faint click noise coming from?

Jake

Thanks Jake it's a Kenmore Elite He3t from 2005/6 era.. i think the faint click is coming from the button panel... of course i plug it in this morning and it works... so something is very faulty.. works sometimes.. doesn't others.. and can't be the door latch

Thats not a model number.:)

The model number will start with 110.

Open the door and read it from the tag.:)

Thanks,

Check your door when it closes, it should hit a push-in button above that door latch, at times I have seen the door hinge bent down just some, causing the door not to strike that button dead on.

If thats fine, then its likely the CCU board bad.

Your service guide is located inside the bottom of your washer, you have to open that lower access panel off, it has 3 torx screws at the very bottom of your machine. That panel pulls forward and down, then you will see it mounted on the right side taped to that inner panel. You can put it in a diagnostics mode.

Here's the CCU(microcomputer) for your model, in case you need to order it:
Main Control Board WP8182215

Thanks for the help Jake. Do you think it's possible to complete the circuit on the latch so the CCU thinks the door is locked? The switch does lineup I just feel that not enough voltage is being sent to fully trip the Latch. I'm confident the soft lock would hold the door in place during a washing load. And just wondering if I can bypass the latch and connect the two wires of the latch switch so the CCU thinks the door is latched so it can continue the cycle. What are your thoughts?

I've never bypassed the door latch, I don't know of a way to do it.

You really need to run the diagnostic mode to see what error code you may be getting.

Jake

Hey jake the diagnostic mode just came up with the same code F/dl ... again i have replaced the door latch, cleaned the connections. Every time it tries to latch the door it's a soft click noise vs. the louder click it makes when the door latch actually engages. If i leave it unplugged for a while it'll work 1 out of every 20 attempts... do you really think it could be the CCU?
