 My Kenmore dryer was working fine yesterday, while switching out loads of clothes, it just decided to not start...No matter what buttons I push or set, all I get is a series of 3-4 fast beeps....I need to finish laundry...what can I do/try? I shut off all power to dryer last night and didn't hook it back up until this morn, no change....Please help....

You would need to take off the lower front access panel under your door, then take off the duct assembly#45, by removing the two #32 screws, Unplug or turn the breaker off to your dryer first before opening it up and ohm testing.

Then you will need a ohm meter to ohm your thermal fuse and thermistor. They sit next to each other on the top of your blower wheel housing.

Here's the thermal fuse for your model you can order here if needed:

This video shows how to test it:

If your thermal fuse checks good, then ohm your thermistor, that should read about 10,000(10k) ohms at room temperature.

Here's the thermistor for your model you can order here if needed:

according to the papers on the dryer (we finally found inside the panel), hubby checked all the codes, everthing it said to test. It does show up a code not listed in the book (E4), anyway, it finally boils down to either the door switch or the main thing (computer?). I guess we have to order both to see which it is. If it is the door switch, will the light still come on? Our light still comes on when the door is open! So now I have to find out how much parts are.... part numbers: 8519323 -- door switch, and 8546219 -- machine control electronics. Thanks again....

Yes, the light switch should be fine if the light comes on in the drum with the door open, but push the door light switch in and see if the light goes off as well.

So its likely the machine board thats bad.

Here's the machine electronic control board for your model you can order:

You can return it if you install it and it didn't fix it for a full refund within 365 days.

Here is the online repair manual for the Whirlpool Duet dryer: https://www.applianceblog.com/manuals/Duetdry.pdf

It shows how to get access to the control board on page 4-2 through 4-4.

Unplug or turn the breaker off to your dryer first.

Hello I have A Kenmore Elite HE3 Dryer Model #110.84832201. The last load that the dryer did work the clothes were so hot that they nearly burned my wife's hands. They were way hotter then they ever have been. Then the next time we tried to use it the time will display, but when we try to push start it beeps 3 or 4 times quickly and won't start.

I have checked the thermal fuse and it is fine, I also checked the thermistor and it is fine as well. Is there anything else I need to check? I am thinking the control board is bad but wanted to get your advice. I saw in one of the posts for this problem that needed the control board that is a little under $400.00 it includes the buttons that are pushed to change cycles, or change the temp or time, does that part only come in one complete unit, or can you get the control board which i assume is behind all of the buttons?

Also if it is the control board, is it the one behind the buttons or the board on the top left side above the dryer when you take the top off? Is there any way to repair these boards? I have done some electronics repairs and if you know what component on the board goes bad for this problem maybe I could replace it. Just a thought.
Thank you very much for your help.

Hi,

You will want to look at your control board closely, for any burnt spots on it. That's common when the dryer won't start is to see burnt spots on it. If you do find any burnt spots on it, then you'll need to replace that board and you'll be back in business.

When you click the link to the control board below, there is a video that shows you how to access it.:)

Ok, so this looks like the board that is on top of the dryer not the part that has all the buttons on it to change cycles etc?

I looked at the board and it looks good. There is one small spot that is a little dark under one of the relay's but not too bad. That is the only spot where I can see anything, but it doesn't look that bad to me. Do you know do those relays fail very often? there are two of them right next to each other?

Yes, that could be the problem, they can fail after years of use.

If your thermal fuse and door switch ohm test good, then that's the only part it can be is the control board.

OK, I just wanted to check I am assuming that is also true for my model # which is 110.84832201. The thermal fuse has continuity, and the light goes on and off when I open and close the door. I haven't ohm'd it but I think it is ok. Could the door switch be bad and still make the light come on and off? Also you may not remember the last load that the dryer did work the clothes were way hotter than normal almost burned to the touch. The control board you refered to is the one on top of the dryer right? Not the part that has the dryer controls on it right?
If there is anything elsi you think I need to fix let me know, otherwise I think it is the board on the top of the dryer. Thanks

Correct, did you watch the video? It shows exactly where its at.

Could the door switch be bad and still make the light come on and off?
No, so the door switch is fine.

One more thing I forgot to mention was the broken belt switch, if that's bad the dryer will not start either. That part is down near the motor. So if it doesn't start, Ohm test the broken belt switch itself first, before replacing the control board.

Here's the broken belt switch for your model:

Watch this video to ohm test it:

You will need to remove the drum first, watch this video below to remove the drum to access it:

flyboy my story is the same as yours. It was very hot then a no go. heating circuit is fine, door switch good. I have read teh same thing can happen if the belt tension switch fails, the switch it tough to get to. I also have a dark spot on the back of the board, it is directly under where one of the legs of the 140 volt circuits land on the board but i have continuity right through there.
I am hesitating to buy the board because i have read it does not fail very often.
Please let me know your results.

I also have a dark spot on the back of the board,
Then you will need to order a new control board and that will fix it. What is your model number?

The model number tag is inside the door.
