The dryer was working fine but no heat. I checked the following heat circuit for continuity: Thermal cut off, Hi-Limit thermostat, the Heater and the motor switch. All had continuity. The wire from the Hi limit to the heater was burnt and no longer connected. I replaced this wire and connector. Put dryer back together and could only operate in diagnostic mode. The heat was now working. However, the error code E1 is now displayed. Not sure what to do next.

Hi,

E1 means: Thermistor Failure. You will need to replace this.

Here's the thermistor for your model you can order(Video Included):
Thermistor WP8577274

Begin with an empty dryer and a clean lint screen. Plug in dryer and make sure door is closed. Press TIMED DRY➔ Press END OF CYCLE SIGNAL(HIGH)➔ Press START. If after 60 seconds, E1 or E2 flashes in the display and the dryer shuts off, the thermistor is probably open or shorted. I see Jake was faster than me with the link...lol
