Red face Larry Tippner Whirlpool Dehumidifier

I paid for the Premium Membership subscription in November of 2008 for - Jakes

I have a Whrilpool Dehumidifier that was sold by Hampton Bay. The model number is bhdh4000asz serial number QE2939309. It hasn't been used in quite a while. When I plug it in and turn it all the way to dryest I hear the compressor kick in but then about 5 seconds it kicks off. The temperature is in the high 60's and I have moved it to warmer spots but it seems to be the same.

Sounds like the start relay for the compressor is kicking out.

It could just be a bad start relay or a bad compressor. What I would do is unplug the start relay from the side of the compressor and check the compressor with a ohm meter to make sure it's not shorted out.

If the compressor checks out ok I would then try a new start relay.

Thank you for the reply. However, this is somewhat over my head. I don't know what the start relay looks like and I don't have an ohm meter. I guess I need to take it to someone more experienced.
