Default [FIXED] GGW9250PW1 Control locked light on and cannot be unlocked

    Model Number: GGW9250PW1
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 6-10 years

    Hello,

I need some help with my Duet dryer. I came back from my 2 weeks vacation and found my dryer control locked light is on and not responsive to any button. I tried to unlock it by pressing the "End of Cycle Signal" button for 3-10 seconds but the dryer is still locked. I tried unplugging the dryer for more than 12 hours and the control locked light is on again once I plug it back. I cannot go into diagnostic mode because the machine is not responsive to any button I pressed. Any suggestion what caused this and how I can fix it?

    Thanks,
    Gil

    Thanks Jake.

I did try Test #5, but I don't have a meter to check function of buttons. I cannot get into diagnostic mode because I cannot get control locked indicator off. There's no beep and no display no matter what I press and turn the control knob. I removed the console electronic housing and the P2, P3, P4 cables are firmly attached. I checked the connection harness and it's okay too.

The light inside the dryer is on when I open the door, so it doesn't look like power issue. It feels like to me "control locked" is locking up everything in the control panel and cannot be unlocked by pressing the end of cycle signal button. Is there trick to reset it?

If I have to order replacing parts, which part should I try first?

    Thanks a lot,
    Gil

It sounds like a user interface problem then. I'd order that first, but we have had quite a few members have issues with the control board too, so you can order both and send back the one you don't need for a FULL refund within 365 days.

Here is the online repair manual for the Whirlpool Duet dryer: https://www.applianceblog.com/manuals/Duetdry.pdf

It shows how to get access to the control board & console assembly on page 4-2 through 4-4.

Here's the user interface for your model you can order:
    Manufacturer's Number: WP8558753

Here's the electronic control board for your model you can order:
    Manufacturer's Number: WP8546219

    Hi Jake,

Thank you for your advice. I ordered both parts and they arrived today. I replaced just the user interface and it works!

    Default Same issue

It seems that I have the same problem here with my duet dryer. I can't really figure out how to open up the control panel, and I don't think I have the right size socket wrench, if that is even what I need.

My model number is GEW9250PW0. when i hold down the start button, the control lock light goes off. also, i've noticed the lights in the time remaining are very light. i'm just wondering if there are any tests I can do on my dryer?

    Ok,

You should have a tech. data sheet in the bottom of your unit, if you don't find it, here it is: www.applianceblog.com/manuals/Tech_Sheet_8558722.pdf

It sure sounds like your user interface on yours is bad.

Here's the user interface for your model:
