My washer was making a rocket launching sound, so I replaced the spider, bearings, tub seal, and shock absorbers. On my first wash cycle, everything sounded great until the final spins. I heard a grinding sounds then smelled something burning. Upon inspection, I found that 2 magnets in the rotor were chipped in the corner.
I’m wondering if this occurred because the bolt was not tightened enough Or something else?
Can I still use the rotor or do I have to buy a new one?

I just noticed lots of rust on the bolt. I’m going to replace it and use loctite blue to put it in.

I put in a new bolt but did not add blue loctite yet. It is not spinning evenly. After I heard the clanking of the fragments of the magnet, I stopped the washer. I noticed the bolt had loosened during the spin because it was very tight at the beginning. ?? The tip of the spider appears off center.

What do I do next? I’ve been working on this for 2 months and feel like I am really close but not sure how to keep the center shaft from rotating off center. Any suggestions appreciated!

I just replaced the spider before I ran the first test.

I replaced the spider, shock absorbers, tub seal, and bearings all at once. I ran the first cycle, and the magnets chipped. I don’t know why it isn’t spinning evenly. I bought this replacement part. I thought that this is what I needed.

That looks like the wrong spider support for your model, I posted the correct one in post #5 above.

Take a photo of your model number tag to verify what revision it is.

I’m going to take the washer back apart and inspect everything. I did not transfer the spring washer from the old spider to the new one, so I know that has to be done. Any other tips are appreciated.

Everything looks good except, I didn’t transfer the spring washer from the old spider.

my only other thoughts….are the bearings seated fully? I think so, but I don’t know what else to do.
