I have 2005 GE Profile double electric wall oven. Lately there is a squealing sound that comes from behind the control panel (very top of the unit) every time we use either the upper or lower oven. The sound typically stops after a few mins, usually before it reaches the desired temp. I checked the fan and it is tight and quiet. The sound definitely is coming from behind the control panel. Any thoughts or suggestions to diagnose would be appreciated...

Without a model number we're dead in the water. Read it off the model tag on the machine.

Did you read it off the model tag? Nothing comes up with that number. There's 256 models that start JT955

Where did you get the JT955 ? A GE "Profile" model will start with a P. Open the doors and check on the right or left side of the oven or frame. If there's a bottom drawer, pull it out and look on the frame. The only the moving part in the area you described is the cooling fan.

I got the JT955 from the cover of the operating instructions pamphlet. Here is the only other possibility 326B 1230 P001

That's not it. I can't look it up but the problem is going to be the cooling fan. That's the only moving part and a "squealing" sound can only come from something moving.

That's exactly what it sounds like. I'll pull the control panel and take a look. I'm assuming it's just the bolts on the bottom if the panel that hold it in. Appreciate your follow-up

It looks similar to the PKP*** Close enough the model tags should be in the same spot on both single and double ovens.

Maybe the tag fell off or taken was off

I'm having the same problem with my GE wall oven. Model JT955SK2SS serial MH649328Q. the squeak/grinding noise is coming from the top control panel.

Rick has been out sick since Jan.12th with a serious illness, we are hoping and praying for a speedy recovery!

Usually that problem is the console cooling fan motor.

Here's the console cooling fan motor assembly for your model:
WB26T10018 Fan Asm-Control

I attached the service manual in this thread:

It shows you how to access it. Make sure you disconnect power to your oven first at your home breaker box.
