Default Kenmore Elite Calypso FL error code

Hi. We have a Kenmore Elite Calypso washing machine, Model # 22062100, not quite 5 years old, that is displaying the FL error. (We are also experiencing problems with our Kenmore refigerator and dryer right now too, so we are having bad luck with applicances all around.) A few months ago we had an electronic problem with this washer and replaced the control panel, which fixed the problem. Now this FL error has started occurring. During the wash cycle, about half the time the washer just stops as it is getting ready to enter the rinse cycle. Eventually the FL error will start flashing and beeping. If we remove about everything from the washer, eventually we can get the washer to drain out, and we can put clothes back in and start a rinse/spin cycle like normal. At other times, the washer appears to run properly. We checked the drain tube, but that does not appear to be the problem, as the washer stops during the cycle before it even tries to drain the water. We've noticed a very slight burning odor, as if maybe a motor is overheating. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

    Hi,

    The FL error code means:
    Flood Condition:
FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed

With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.

Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

This problem i see on these are the water pumps getting clogged with lint or other things, causing the pump not to pump all of the water out at times.

Thanks so much for the help. We have removed the drain pump assembly and can't find any clog or material in the pump or in any of the hoses. Does this mean that there may be a problem with the pump motor?

Yes, the pump motor itself could be starting to go out.

I just wanted to post a follow-up. My husband saw something about a backup valve or flap that was in the drain assembly that seems to sometimes cause problems with the FL error code. He removed this piece, and we haven't had any problems with the washer since and did not have to replace the pump. Thanks again for your assistance.
