Default [FIXED] whirlpool elec range panel buttons not working

    Model Number: GY397LXUS0
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 1-5 years

Some of the buttons on my Whirlpool range are not functioning. It started with the numbers 3,6,9 stopped working. Then a few days later 0 and 5. I turned off the breaker for several hours and turned it back on and then I got my 9 back working again but nothing else. Now, the Bake button is not working. Several buttons still work - Broil, Self Clean, Cancel, 1,4,7. I have seen some posts where the membrane can be replaced (~$50) rather than the entire touch panel assembly (~$200). Any suggestions on what to try here?
    Thanks.

Is there any more numbers after the "S" at the end of your model#?

Yes, you'd just need the membrane.

The only problem I see in getting the membrane, they list 3 for this model, I'm assuming the difference in the 3 are the colors it is, and I couldn't find which color refers to which part# you need.

I'll be home in a few hours and actually check on the unit itself. My order form just shows the GY397LXUS. That is the stainless model. I'm surprised there would be multiple colors for that model specifically. Although, when you look on the website, there are 4 colors total. The touchpads on the stainless and the black model are black, the other 2 are beige or white, so that would be 3 total colors.

But, the other colors are different model numbers:
    GY397LXUB - Black
    GY397LXUQ - White
    GY397LXUS - Stainless
    GY397LXUT - Biscuit

Anyway, I'll respond in a few hours with the model and serial from the unit itself. I suppose if the return policy is good, I could always order 1 of the 3, check the color and then return it if it is wrong and order the other color.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Model number is GY397LXUS0. I looked at a couple of online parts stores and some had the color in the description for the membrane, some did not. So, I think I should be able to get the part number for the black one from one of the sites if I need to.

I'll wait for your response now that I have the correct model number to make sure I am looking for the correct part.

    Thanks.

Default FIXED - Whilrpool GY397LXUS buttons not working

Everything is working perfectly now. Repair only took about 15 minutes. Very simple and cost me only around $40.

    Thanks a lot!
