Hi all

I’ve been fighting with a kenmore fridge since 25th first symptom

1. Excessive ice in freezers
2. I used a hair dryer to defrost

From the the fridge and freezer aren’t cool, I’ve replaced the relay for the compressor and capacitor, I can can hear it click on and off
I’ve tested the continuity in the fridge dial for setting the temperature
I’ve replaced the thermostat in the freezer

And ordered a new defrost timer

So the compressor start relay is just clicking and the compressor is not coming on?

And you already replace the compressor start relay? If that's the case, then your compressor is internally locked up, meaning the piston in it has seized up, and you will need to have a refrigeration tech. replace the compressor.

Thanks Jake, this is the one I’ve installed and still king of cold out of the freezer, I have a jump capacitor coming DC410 Refrigerator Relay Overload Start Capacitor 3 in 1 start for 1/4-1/3 hp, final attempt before the fridge goes any ideas , I checked the compressor with an ohm meter and it all came back good plus the relay I’m going to replace

I'm not understanding what you are saying. Is the compressor running at all? Because it can't be cold at all if the compressor is not running, You know what I mean? Or the compressor running intermittently?

The freezer is kind of cold? Put a freezer thermometer in the freezer and tell us what it reads in 2 hours.

Also take a photo of the evaporator coil located in the freezer behind the back panel, we need to see the frost pattern on it.

Hi jake
The first issue was Xmas day, frost in the freezer part fridge not cooling, so I defrosted the fridge and changed the starter relay.

Then I replaced the defrost timer, the temperature control in the fridge.

Today I cleaned the coils at the back and the condenser motor is running but wobbling on the spindle so I put some wd40.

The starter relay clicks once then clicks again and the compressor is warm.

I then checked there is a connection between all three of the connections on the compressor and I get a beep on my meter.

Could it be the condensing fan motor wobbling and turning off the compressor ?

Thanks

Yes, because that condenser fan motor cools the condenser and compressor and if both are running hot the compressor shuts down prematurely, thus no cooling.

Here's the condenser fan motor for your model:

I have no clue, I never buy any appliance parts off ebay or amazon. Too many scammers there.

Jake, I just striped down the motor cleaned the dust off the coil and put back together, and it runs . Even if you have a running fan motor can it still not work well enough to tell the compressor to turn on thanks

If the condenser fan motor is not running fast enough that causes it too.

Morning Jake
I replaced the motor with the oem, one and fan runs better still no cooling starter relay clicks then no cooling, could it be the below sensor which I replaced and put on the wrong pipe, if so which pipe should it be clipped on

Front pipe or rear

no cooling starter relay clicks then no cooling
Where did you buy the compressor start relay at?

The problem is not the defrost thermostat when the compressor start relay clicks, put that defrost thermostat back on the evaporator coil and plug the wire back into it and leave it alone, that's not the issue.:)

This video shows you which tube it goes on:
