Default estate by whirlpool washer model agitates, pumps, but doesn't spin and makes loud clacking noise

    Model Number: TAWB600EQ1
    Brand: Estate
    Age: 6-10 years

    hello.
i have a washer (model above) that will fill, agitate, pump, but when it comes to spinning, it won't spin and makes a loud clacking noise. when it first started doing this, it would spin with the noise, then it would spin intermittently, then it came to where i could open it up and while holding the lid switch, i could rotate the drum by hand and get it started spinning... now it won't spin but still makes the loud clacking noise. i took the cabinet off and the clutch on bottom spins and the agitator spins a little bit (with no clothes inside).... but the drum doesn't spin. the coupler isn't broken. any ideas as to what it is? i was thinking the inner tub drive block but i have no spanner wrench to remove the nut. i thought i'd ask on here to see what others think before i purchase both a spanner wrench and a tub drive block.
    -thanx

thank you for the replies.... so you think it's the drive block?... i was thinking that too... so if it is the drive block, would i still be able to stop the agitator from spinning easily with my hand like in the video? if i put it into spin mode with the agitator removed, i can still grab the splined end of the rod and stop it easily. i just didn't know if that was possible if only the drive block is stripped. -thanx

Put the washer to a low water level, let the washer fill and the agitation start, then remove power and lower the drain hose to drain out the water....the agitator should be locked into place.

i did... and the agitator did lock (i couldn't turn the agitator)... so after doing that, you think it is the drive block (when i turned it to spin it still made that noise and the drum didn't turn - like in the video)... thanx!!

Twice I have mentioned that....yes, check the drive block as the best place to start!

Can sometimes get away with a large flat screwdriver and hammer to remove the nut.
