Question Kenmore 80 series electric dryer: No buzz, No run, No heat, No spin, Door light works

    Model Number: 110
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 6-10 years

    Hello,

We have a kenmore 80 series electric dryer. We replaced the belt about 3 months ago. When you press the start button, the buzzing sound does NOT occur. When you open the door, the light turns ON. When you manually hold the door part that activates the switch on and off, it turns the light OFF.

All the threads I can find discuss broken belts and door switches, and the buzzing sound is present.

As we have a working light and no buzz and a recently replaced belt, could anyone help us out? We always clean our lint traps, although I'm sure through the years we have a buildup. Is this enough to prevent the machine from starting or even the start button from buzzing?

What should I do? It costs about $90 just to have a repairman out to my house.

    Thank you for your time,
    Joey

    The model number is 110.xxxxxx

Also, you used to be able to hear the buzzer when the timer was in the off position and you pressed the start button, this is not occurring now. However when moving the timer, 'clicks' can still be heard.

110.xxxxxxxx is not a model number. I need the eight digits that follow 110.

sorry the actual number is 110.c62842101.

Also, when you hold the start button down when the timer is set to any running setting, you can hear the timer clicking away, although there is no buzz and no running of the machine and no heat (as far as I can tell). And when the start button is held down in an off position, there is no buzz.

You probably have an open thermal fuse but I'm unable to look it up. Some Canadian models we don't have information on in USA, and this is one of them. Jeff lives and has an appliance shop in Canada, he may know. You can go to Jeff's forum section here: Question and answer forum entrance for Appliance repair helps
