We've been having trouble occasionally with clothes getting stuck between the dryer drum and the cabinet and getting damaged. It appears that I need to replace the felt seal, which is essentially glued in place with a high-temp adhesive. I was surprised to see that a tube of the OEM adhesive is around $50, and since this will (hopefully) be a one-time thing for me, I'm wondering if I could instead use something like Permatex high-temp gasket/sealant, which I already have.

I looked up some other brand equivalents and they are outrageously priced as well. Maybe to do with their toxic chemical constituents?

Even the Maytag version is pricey but better at 1/2 price... which is strange as it is sold by Whirlpool too.

I don't know what that is.

We would sometimes use 3M 847 adhesive. (I believe GE recommend it.) It looks like Speed Queen is selling Dow 737. Maybe compare their specifications to what you have?

Thanks. I ordered the adhesive from the Maytag link you provided. It's expensive, but at least 1/2 as expensive.
