I have a Model 417.94812301 Kenmore washer/dryer combo. Recently on regular cycle when it got to the final spin there was a burning smell and the chassis above the lid lock switch was warm to the touch. After that it would only run on the delicate cycle, which it did with no problem.

I replaced the lid lock switch and it ran through the regular cycle again up to the spin phase and the same burning, warm to the touch chassis and would only work on delicate again. I guess it could have been just a bad replacement part but I'm wondering if it's something else that is causing the lid lock switch to fail. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks. I'm just concerned that I'll replace it again and it will get fried again. Can you think of anything that might have caused it or was the replacement part defective?

Good point. But without it I'm stuck on Delicate cycle until we can get a replacement machine.
